August 1993: Started Intelisys (a consulting firm)
Developed database information management systems using both the view-driven and the event-driven paradigm in Paradox for Windows and Microsoft Access. Hired full-time, part-time and contract employees. Won and completed contracts from federal and state government agencies as well as private businesses. Clients and projects included the following:
  1. United States Bureau of Mines: Salt Lake City, Utah
    Developed a system to record the locations of hazardous chemicals used in research centers in the western United States.

  2. BYU Department of Performing Arts Management: Provo, Utah
    Developed a system to record and report on the financial information surrounding the performances of the Young Ambassadors, the Ballroom Dance Company and other performing groups managed by the department.

  3. BYU Department of Food Science and Nutrition: Provo, Utah
    Developed a system to handle the scheduling of taste panels at the department's sensory lab.

  4. Bolshoi Cruises: Provo, Utah
    Developed an event-driven system to handle the entire process of acquiring customers and sending them on cruises in Russia.

  5. Lakeview Hospital: Bountiful, Utah
    Developed an event-driven system to manage the help-desk function of the computer support department.

  6. Savage Industries: Salt Lake City, Utah
    Consulted Information Systems Department in the process of developing event-driven business solutions using Microsoft Access. Modeled their sales/collection cycle and a portion of their conversion cycle.

  7. Parrish Chemical: Orem, Utah
    Consulted management in the theory of event-driven business solutions. They converted all their systems to the event paradigm using Microsoft Access as their front-end tool.

  8. Technical Sourcing Incorporated: San Diego, California
    Developed an event-driven system to manage the sales/collection process in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the U.S.

  9. Western Direct: Provo, Utah
    Consulted management and developed prototype to convert company's systems to the event-driven paradigm.

  10. Health Rider Kiosk Division: Provo, Utah
    Developed an event-driven system to manage the sales of and billing for HealthRider exercise equipment sold in Utah Malls.

February 1995: Incorporated TechSupport (a training and consulting firm)
Continued consulting services. Grew training division to 15 employees prior to sale in February of 1997. Clients and projects include the following:
  1. United States Bureau of Mines: Salt Lake City, Utah
    Created an event-driven module to system previously written to track movement of hazardous chemicals from location to location.

  2. California Dept. of Agriculture: Sacramento, California
    Developed an event-driven system to manage the process of levying and collecting statutory fees for the state-wide inspection and quality control of all produce shipped in the state of California.

  3. Huntsman Chemical Corporation: Salt Lake City, Utah
    Developed a succession planning system to allow the Human Resources Department to track the development of employees to fill jobs internally.

  4. Sperry-Sun: Layfette, Louisiana
    Consulted members of the Information Systems Department in relational theory including subsets/supersets, aggregation, conceptual/Physical entities as well as in the fundamentals of event-driven business solutions. Also taught database application development using Microsoft Access.

  5. The Money Store Investment Corporation: Sacramento, California
    Developed an event-driven system to manage the process of auditing the loan Approval / rejection function.

  6. Elkhorn Construction: Evanston, Wyoming
    Developed an event-driven system to manage the company's sales/collection cycle. The system was developed in Paradox for Windows and interfaced with the company's major clients via EDI.

  7. AT&T: Atlanta, Georgia
    Consulted members of the Financial Assets Management division in the concepts of event-driven business solutions and in database application development using Microsoft Access as a front end to a Sybase database.

  8. Charles Machine Works, Inc. (Ditch Witch): Perry, Oklahoma
    Consulted members of the Information systems division in the concepts of event-driven business solutions and in database application development using Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, and Delphi.
